The Green Lake Area Ratepayer Association (GLARA) AGM is on Saturday August 26th, 9:30 a.m. at the Snowmobile Club: 176 Green Lake South Road.
This year our guest speaker is Don Holmes, RP Bio. Who has been commissioned to evaluate the historical data of Green Lake and provide a professional opinion on Green Lake quality. We have had a lot questions over the last few years about changes to the lake and so we have set aside time for a question and answer period for residents. If you see any plants or invertebrates that are of interest to you, bring them in a Tupperware container and Don can look at them. Any other questions are very welcome.
Don worked for most of his career with the Ministry of Environment and has retired into a consultancy business. He was the overseer for all the lake sampling in the region and as such is very aware of changes to lakes and their causes. We think this is a great opportunity for all lake residents to become more aware of the science behind our lake and get comfort from analysis of historical sampling.
He welcomes a large audience as it gives him a perspective from those of us who live here. Afterwards, armed with these questions, we will tour the lake and do physical inspection followed by a report to residents. So come and help out!
Don Holmes, RPBio is certified by the College of Applied Biology in the province of British Columbia. He is certified as Qualified Environmental Professionals (QEP’s).
